Future Solutions, Inc., a recycling company based in Broomfield, opened
a branch in Colorado Springs last month.
Future Solutions, Inc. is a re-seller of recycled and environmentally
friendly products. Founded by Vanessa Morganti, the company's
goal was to locate all recycled products the government was seeking
to purchase and identify new available recyclables. The company
now boasts a collection of recycled office supplies, construction and
building materials, educational materials and awards and gifts.
The company's office supply catalog alone provides more then 2,000 items
made from recycled materials. According to Brian Wess, the Colorado
Springs branch manager, about five private business and all the military
institutions in town take advantage of the company's services.
Morganti also just won the Small Business Administration's Young Entrepreneur
Award for 1999. However, getting there took a lot of work.
Procuring recyclables proved to be more work then she thought.
She pored through executive orders, federal acquisition regulations,
contracting procedures, proposal preparation, manuals, certifications,
resources, contacts, manufacturers and Environmental Protection Agency
documents.
Morganti also serves on the board of the Colorado Association for Recycling
and is a state representative for America Recycles Day. She's
also affiliated with the National Recycling Coalition, Colorado Recycles
the Environmental Defense Fund and Eco-Cycle's Buy Recycled Business
Network.
